MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Fire crews responded to multiple incidents over the July 4 holiday, including a rocket which shot across a Morgan fire chief’s windshield, according to the Mountain Green Fire Protection District .

Mountain Green fire crews responded to a CO alarm call before patrolling for illegal fireworks Thursday. Crews began shutting down a few “shows,” the department posted on social media .

At around 11 p.m., firefighters responded to a grass fire in Morgan that was reportedly started by fireworks thrown into a dumpster at an apartment complex. Rockets were shooting out of the dumpster, officials said, one of which shot across the Morgan fire chief’s windshield, and another that shot across a river and started a grass fire.

“Remember, RED FLAG CONDITIONS still in effect, dry, dry, dry grasses,” officials said.

At around 2:30 a.m., Mountain Green fire crews responded to a semi-truck rollover crash on I-84 westbound at Peterson exit 96.

“Driver was possibly ejected, but a language barrier prevented further investigation,” officials said.

The driver was reportedly taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. Fire crews also dealt with leaking hazmat from the semi tractor, including “mostly transmission oil from the destroyed engine,” though the semi’s fuel tanks stayed intact, officials said.

All fire units were reportedly cleared by 3:30 a.m. so “heavy recovery equipment” could begin removing the wreckage.

No further information is available at this time.
