Big Lots in Logan shutting it doors
LOGAN - The Big Lots store at 1617 North Main in Logan is among nearly 150 stores across 28 states that the discount retailer is reportedly closing. The Logan store, along with a location in Layton, will shut its doors, while five other locations in Utah will remain open. The final date of operation for the Logan location is not yet known.
Orem man charged with pointing gun at officers, calling them 'cowards'
OREM — An Orem man wanted by police for absconding is facing new charges accusing him of pointing a gun at officers who went to his house to arrest him. Robin Blaze Thurber, 67, was charged Friday in 4th District Court with four counts of assault on a police officer and possession of a gun by a restricted person, second-degree felonies; and interfering with police, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, class B misdemeanors.

Park City plans to open some trails to e-bikes… but 68% of locals are opposed to the change
More and more trail systems nationwide are considering allowing class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes on their non-motorized singletrack or have already given the green light. Well, we can now add Park City, UT, to the list of areas that once said “no” to e-bikes and may soon make some changes. SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah baseball program was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association this week with the Team Academic Excellence Award. Presented to the Utes for the third straight season, the honor is given to programs with a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the recently-completed school year. Cause of Wednesday’s Provo Canyon fire unknown
PROVO, Utah — An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that started near the mouth of Provo Canyon on Wednesday night. According to Provo Fire and Rescue Capt. Jeanie Atherton the Provo Canyon fire started around 11 p.m. The fire burned on the northbound side of Interstate 189 where Canyon Road merges with University Avenue. Atherton said the fire was on the hillside to the east.
