    Mountain Home, Arkansas woman dies after drowning in White River

    OZARK COUNTY, Mo. — A woman from Mountain Home, Arkansas, has died after drowning in the north fork of the White River in Missouri on Saturday, July 13.

    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened half a mile south of the Dawt Mill Bridge in Ozark County at 1:25 p.m. Saturday.

    The drowning report says 63-year-old Julia M. Monroe was trying to exit an innertube in the river when she went underwater for a significant amount of time.

    Monroe was recovered from the river by a nearby swimmer. She was pronounced deceased at 2:13 p.m. by a doctor from Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.

    This is the third drowning in MSHP Troop G in 2024.
