MOUNTAIN TOP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Our six-week Hunger Free Summer Campaign kicked off Wednesday at the Weis Market in Mountain Top, all to help area families in need.

28/22 News Meteorologist Josh Hodell, PA live! host Chris Bonhinski and Morning Anchor Tom Williams were there Wednesday collecting food at the Weinberg Regional Food Bank .

So many people came out and donated not only canned goods and nonperishable items, but cash donations as well, and we’d like to thank everyone who took the time to donate.

“It’s really good for the students in Wilkes-Barre area, they, they get a chance to help their community and they get a chance to see you know what happens when we do help the community,” said Wilkes-Barre Area Highschool Key Club Advisor Heather Johnson.

On Wednesday alone, 28/22 News filled 18 carts full of food.

We will be continuing our “Hunger Free Summer Campaign” throughout the summer.

Next Wednesday, you can see 28/22 News Reporter Julie Dunphy at Weis Market in Clarks Summit.
