Hurricane Beryl death toll climbs to 27, including 15 caused by heat due to massive power outages
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two more names have been added to the list of people who died during and after Hurricane Beryl roared ashore in Texas on July 8. In an update Wednesday from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, we learned the death toll in Harris County climbed to 17 with two more names added to the list.

Public health officials urge Texans to be vigilant in protecting against mosquito bites after confirming the first Texas case of West Nile virus and 10 travel- associated dengue cases this year alone. In Hays county, officials confirmed last week that several mosquito trap samples collected in the Wimberley area tested positive for West Nile Virus. The positive samples were collected from two sites in and around the city of Wimberley on July 11.
