Crews battling large fire on Milwaukee’s west side
An old church converted into a learning center is on fire this morning at 39th and Lisbon on Milwaukee’s west side. Crews arrived on scene around 1:00am Thursday. Neighbors tell our news partners at TMJ4 the smoke from the fire filled their homes alerting them to the blaze. WTMJ listeners report smoke from the fire has been seen in the Menomonee Valley.
YMCA plans new facility at Waukesha technical college campus
A full-service YMCA facility will be developed on the Waukesha County Technical College campus in coming years. The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County and Waukesha County Technical College will partner on developing a modern YMCA facility on the main campus at 800 W. Main St. in Pewaukee, officials said in a news release. The facility will serve residents of Waukesha County and surrounding areas as well as students, staff and college faculty, officials added.
DRM Industries Corp. joins Wisconsin DNR’s Green Tier program
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced that DRM Industries Corp., a provider of precision machining and metal fabrication in Lake Delton, Wis., has joined the state’s Green Tier program as a Tier 1 participant. This status affirms DRM’s commitment to sustainability and desire to develop plans for continuous environmental improvement.
Press receives state American Legion award
The Verona Press received a Public Relations Appreciation Award from the Wisconsin American Legion on Friday, July 12. Verona’s Mason-Lindsay Post 385 nominated community news reporter Maddie Bergstrom for an award in the Legion’s press category.
