‘The Sunshine Boys’ Set to Take Stage Soon in Central Arkansas
Argenta Contemporary Theatre, in partnership with the ACANSA Arts Festival of the South, is set to stage Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys” from Sept. 11 through Sept. 21. The play, starring Little Rock’s P. Jay Clark as Willie Clark and New York native Freddy Geils as Al Lewis, tells the story of two former vaudeville stars who must reunite for a CBS “History of Comedy” retrospective despite years of estrangement.

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A new survey from the online loan marketplace Lending Tree reported that 68% of back-to-school shoppers expect to spend more on school supplies this year than last year. The survey also reports that 73% of back-to-school shoppers are stressed about paying for supplies, and 40% expect to go into debt shopping.

The Pine Bluff School District's 21st Century Community Learning Centers are featured on a federal website spotlighting subgrantees for the Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC program. The program is supported by the Office of Elementary & Secondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education. It supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during hours away from school for children, with an emphasis on those who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, according to the office.

Indiana man flees and shoots at Arkansas State Police on I-30
A man fleeing from Arkansas State Police on Interstate 30 was shot and injured Monday night in Hope, Arkansas. The Troopers were pursuing 43-year-old Joshua Harrison of Richmond, Indiana. At approximately 10:10 p.m., Troopers pursued the fleeing suspect on Interstate 30 eastbound near the Hempstead/Nevada County line. At roughly the 36-mile marker, the suspect driver fired shots at Troopers, who returned fire.
