Altamont Opens Fall Season With 4-2 Win Over Neoga at Home
Altamont baseball has a different look this year after losing a large graduating class but they picked up right where they left off from their Spring season with a 4-2 win over Neoga at home on Tuesday. The Indians would get on the board early with an RBI double from Brayden Elam scoring Keegan Schultz from first base for a 1-0 lead. Neoga answered with a run in the top of the second to tie the game up at 1-1 and that score would hold across the next three innings as both teams were held scoreless in those innings. Neoga would score on a fielder’s choice for a 2-1 lead, but that would not hold long as the Altamont offense went back to work in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out, Kade Milleville reached base on an error and Schultz was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second before Elam singled to right field to bring in Milleville to tie the game at 2-2. With Schultz at third and Elam at second, Zaine Miller reached base on an error on a hard ground ball and that brought in both Schultz and Elam as Altamont regained the lead, 4-2. Those runs would wrap up scoring in the game as Altamont held Neoga scoreless in the top of the seventh to close out the win and start the season at 1-0. The Indians will return to action on Friday as they will go on the road for the first time to take on Dieterich.
