ELEPHANT GARLIC FESTIVAL — Now in its 26th year, the annual Elephant Garlic Festival returns to North Plains Aug. 9-11. This free event will be filled with music, food and family fun at Jessie Mays Community Park, 30975 N.W. Hillcrest St. For more information, go online ( funstinks.com ).
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT — Across East Multnomah County will be an outpouring of fun during the last gasp of summer. National Night Out is Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, hosted by neighborhood associations and municipalities. There will be barbecues, games, music and more. One main gathering will be at the Gresham Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. Second St., with appearances by Gresham Police and Fire, and free ice cream floats.
AURORA COLONY DAYS — Aurora Colony Days returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10. The Aug. 9 festivities will feature a biergarten from 4:30 to 10 p.m. with the music of Mark Seymour and Friends, beginning at 6 p.m. On Aug. 10, a pancake breakfast kicks things off at the American Legion Hall, followed by a fun run, Market in the Park and the Outdoor Antiques Market downtown. INDIA FESTIVAL — The India Cultural Association’s 2024 India Festival is moving this year to Beaverton City Park. Still free to attend, the event lasts from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. From live music to food, drinks and vendors, the festival is adding hands-on demonstrations of cricket, henna and a platform to learn classical Indian dance.
