Relief from high heat, more rain chances into the weekend
It is another stormy start to the day for some of us. Showers and storms will mainly be found across the southern half of the area through mid morning. Most of this activity will behave and the main threat that will come from them is localized flooding due to steady, heavy rainfall.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Aside from a few evening showers in western Kansas, most of the state will enjoy some calm weather and comfortable temperatures into the night and again Thursday. Despite the fact so many areas still need rain, chances for widespread moisture are on hold until Friday night. We should continue to see mild weather right into the beginning of next week.

YMCA to be built on land donated by HRHS at 20th and Lorraine
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Greater Wichita YMCA and Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System (HRHS) announced Tuesday a partnership that will bring a new state-of-the-art Hutchinson YMCA facility to Reno County. The future 75,000-square-foot Y branch will be located on land donated by HRHS to the Y near the intersection of 20th Street and Lorraine; it will replace the Hutchinson Y’s current location at 716 E 13th Ave.

High winds topple trees in Hays overnight
Winds in Hays topped out at 66 mph Monday night, toppling trees and breaking tree limbs. Hays received 1.75 inches of rain, according to the K-State Ag Research Center. That brings Hays to 2.14 inches of rain for July and 13.14 inches of precipitation for the year. Hays averages 14.67 inches of rain by the end of July.
