The Liberal Bee Jay defense committed four errors and allowed six unearned runs in an 8-5 loss to the Hays Larks at Brent Gould Field Tuesday night. The game was called after six innings as a thunderstorm warning was posted for Liberal. The Larks move to within 1.5 games of the Bee Jays in the Rocky Mountain.

A Shawnee man could serve the rest of his life in prison for the murders of his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child. On July 15, Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan of Johnson County District Court handed down the sentence to Doniel L Sublett Jr., 30, of Shawnee, for two counts of premeditated first-degree murder.
