49 local players selected to All-State Softball Team
On Friday morning, the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association Committee released its 2024 All-State team. 49 local players earned statewide honors. DuBois Central Catholic pitcher Rylee Kulbatsky won pitcher of the year for Class 1A. Five Cardinals were selected after they won the PIAA Class 1A softball championship in June.

Seven locals land on volleyball all-state team
Several area athletes were selected to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State teams released on Friday. Meadville led local schools with four selections on the all-state teams. Sophomores Luc Soerensen, Tymir Phillips and Parker Gosnell were named to the first-team. Soerensen and Gosnell are outside hitters while Phillips is a middle hitter. On the second-team, Meadville senior setter Jack Brown made the cut. Man charged in stabbing death of former roommate in Westmoreland County
NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- A man is dead, and another is behind bars in Westmoreland County following a stabbing at a home in New Kensington on Friday.The incident occurred on Freeport Road.When police arrived, they said they found 58-year-old David Risher stabbed to death inside the home. Risher was initially reported missing earlier in the day.Investigators named 40-year-old Nico Harris, a former roommate of Risher, as the suspect.Harris was arrested and now faces multiple charges.
