What a way to cap National Ice Cream Month: The Akron Zoo will play host to its annual Chillin’ at the Zoo ice cream tasting event on July 27 from 6-9 p.m. Ice cream stations will be set up throughout the park that feature fun flavors, like Campfire Toasted S’mores and Cupcake. Tickets include four samples of ice cream, admission to the zoo after hours, animal encounters and other activities. Free carousel rides on the Conservation Carousel also are available.
Numbers Band Makes Their Annual Appearance at Akron Art Museum’s Downtown @ Dusk
Thu 7/25 @ 6:30-8PM Kent’s Numbers Band, which debuted in the summer of 1970, has plugged on without a break ever since, is one of northeast Ohio’s musical treasures. Fronted by intense, charismatic singer/songwriter/guitarist Robert Kidney, the band has forged its own distinctive sound out of rock and roll, blues and jazz. While clearly there’ve been many personnel changes in a band with such a long history, Bob’s multi-instrumentalist brother jack Kidney and sax/keyboards player Terry Hynde have been along for a significant chunk of the ride.
