Shoe store to move from Empire Mall to Bridges at 57th
After 20 years at The Empire Mall, Shoe Diva is heading south. The shoe retailer, which is next to Macy’s, is moving to The Bridges at 57th. “It’s been a good thing, but times change, and we’ve always liked The Bridges,” owner Karla Kuehl said. “It’s a lot of development that’s happened that way in the city, and what’s beautiful is that as I’ve told customers, longtime customers … that we’re moving, they’re like, ‘Oh I’m so happy, that’s my neighborhood. You’re closer to me now.’ It has been overwhelmingly positive, and that is just thrilling.”

Legislative Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Meets in Pierre
PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Legislative Interim Summer Study Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) met in Pierre and took public testimony from various individuals including Chrissie Young, Director of the Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment. She told the committee that globally there has been a 600% increase in the use of the Internet to traffic people, especially children.
4-H Achievement Days Held
Emmett Strasser was this year’s winner of the Don Grimsrud Memorial Award for Grand Champion Overall Beef. He is pictured with his Charolais market steer on Wednesday, Aug. 7, during the Roberts County 4-H Achievement Days. On Wednesday, live animals and static exhibits were on display for the public to view, a style show was held, and the public enjoyed the 4-H BBQ dinner and the livestock sale. South Dakota Men’s Golf 2024-25 Schedule Under New Coach Green
The South Dakota men's golf team, under first-year head coach Chad Green, has unveiled its competitive schedule for the 2024-25 season. The Coyotes will participate in 10 regular-season tournaments, including notable trips to Arizona and North Carolina in spring. Green aims to challenge the team with high-quality events at championship-level courses, featuring partners like Minnesota, Missouri, and Purdue. The season begins on September 9-10 at the Derek Dolenc tournament in Madison, Illinois, and will include hosting a local tournament at the highly-ranked Landmand Golf Club. The season culminates with the Summit League Championships in Mesa, Arizona, from April 27-29.

Most of the Riders Who Died at Sturgis Weren’t Wearing Helmets, Leaving 12 Dead
Only three of the deceased riders are confirmed to have been wearing helmets. That's one more death when compared to the 2023 rally. The Sturgis Rally finished on August 11th, and in the period just before, during, and after the event, 12 riders were left dead as a result of road traffic accidents. Of the riders killed, just three were confirmed to have been wearing helmets, while seven of the riders weren't wearing helmets. It's still under investigation whether or not two of the riders were wearing helmets.
Three people arrested on fentanyl, methamphetamine charges in Pennington Co.
PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - More than 200 grams of fentanyl are now in the hands of authorities after a drug arrest in South Dakota on Friday morning. The multi-state investigation led authorities to Pennington County where they arrested three people, Brendan Williams and Richard Zebroski of Rapid City and Lillian McLaughlin of Black Hawk.
