The Des Moines Register's sister paper, the Evening Tribune, reports on July 2, 1919, that the Iowa Legislature in a special session has added the state to the growing roll of those in support of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That amendment, ratified the following year, gave women the full right to vote. Iowa women had long been prominent in the suffrage movement. Today in Iowa, women hold two of four congressional seats, one of two U.S. Senate seats and the governor's office.

Panther Softball Score 20 Runs on Eagles
The Panorama Panther softball team had their final regular season game in Afton against the East Union Eagles, resulting in the Panthers claiming a 20-8 victory over the Eagles. Panorama would score a run in the top of the first but East Union would respond quickly and take the lead, notching in three runs of their own in the bottom of the first. This would light a fire under the Panthers, who would score six runs to take a 7-3 lead and would not look back. Panorama would score every inning, and would notch in another six runs in the final inning of the contest resulting in a 20-8 landslide victory for the Panorama Panthers.
Cedar Rapids woman reportedly found at Lake MacBride State Park with drug paraphernalia, stolen weapon in her car
A Cedar Rapids woman was reportedly found with drug paraphernalia and a stolen weapon in her car while at a park near Solon. A DNR officer reports seeing an open container and a marijuana grinder inside a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe parked at Lake MacBride State Park just after 7:00 Saturday night. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up more open containers, drug paraphernalia, a scale with white powder on it, and a gun that was later determined to be stolen.
