The Illinois Department of Public Health has expanded its list of high-risk ZIP codes for lead exposure, recommending mandatory testing for children under 12 living in those areas, with the goal of implementing universal testing for lead exposure across all Illinois ZIP codes by 2026.

July 4th mass shooting: Chicago women died shielding children from gunfire
CHICAGO - A mass shooting in Grand Crossing on Chicago’s South Side early Thursday morning left two women and an 8-year-old child dead. Former Illinois basketball guard, Andres Feliz, has signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid. Feliz has been an integral part of a variety of Euroleague clubs overseas and has progressively improved each season. Most recently, the strong-bodied combo guard played for FC Joventut and had a breakout season. During the 2023-2024 season, Feliz averaged 15.0 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. The points and assists averages were the best on the team, while his rebounding averages ranked second on FC Joventut.
