MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW — A Murrells Inlet intersection has temporarily been turned into a four-way stop as South Carolina transportation officials covert it into a roundabout.

The construction is taking place at Riverwood Drive and Old Kings Highway, according to the state Department of Transportation. The intersection originally was a two-way stop.

The roundabout is part of a five-stage intersection improvement project that began in June, DOT officials said. The project is expected to be completed next spring.

The DOT has asked drivers to slow down in the area and to pay attention when driving through work zones.
