Muscatine is starting a couple of new road work projects that will affect driving for months.

A news release from the city says that starting July 24, Vail Avenue between U.S. Highway 61 and the Durant corporate limits will be closed to traffic for a PCC patching project. Contractors are organizing equipment and personnel to start the work, which is expected to be completed in late September, depending on weather. Drivers can avoid the area by using the detour from Highway 61 to Western Avenue (Y30) to 200th Street (Historic Hwy 6).

Starting July 31, Moscow Road between 155th Street (F70) and U.S. Highway 6 will be closed to traffic for a PCC paving project. Contractors are coordinating equipment and personnel to start the culvert and bridge approach work. Manatt’s Inc, the main contractor, expects to begin paving in October. Construction is expected to be finished in late November, weather permitting. Drivers should use the detour from 155th Street (F70) to Hwy 38 to Hwy 6 to Moscow Road until the work is completed.
