DALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — After an hourslong standoff Wednesday, police arrested a suspect accused of attacking a family member, they say.

The standoff was at a home on Riverwood Drive in the area of Dalson Road and East River Road in Dalton Township.

Michigan State Police said the suspect attacked a family member around 7:10 a.m. Wednesday. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The suspect, MSP said, wouldn’t talk with officers and holed up in the home. Police tried to negotiate with the suspect but didn’t get anywhere. Eventually, the Emergency Support Team — MSP’s name for SWAT — entered the home and “safely” arrested the suspect.

The suspect’s name had not been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

In addition to negotiators and the Emergency Support Team, the bomb squad responded to the scene.
