The Elba 8U Little League team won the Imlay City tournament on July 14. Elba defeated Almont 14-13 in the finals and Capac 14-4 in the semifinals. Almont had defeated Imlay City 18-6 in the semifinals. Capac opened tournament play with a 7-6 win over Cass City. In the 10U tournament, Almont took home the trophy after defeating Cass City 9-1 in the finals. Almont beat Elba 9-7 in the semifinals, while Cass City defeated Imlay City Blue 4-3. Burtchville Woman Pleads Guilty to Embezzling More than $86,000
LANSING – Yesterday, Lisa Marie Tramski, 57, of Burtchville, pled guilty in the 31st Circuit Court in St. Clair County to one count of Embezzlement of $50,000 or more, but less than $100,000, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Tramski embezzled more than $86,000 from an elderly woman after becoming her court-appointed guardian. Tramski will pay $51,600.75 in restitution prior to sentencing as part of the plea.

VAN DALE, Lorraine K., 80, of Clinton Township Michigan passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Lorraine was born May 14, 1944 the daughter of Edward J. Waszak and Josephine G. Waszak (Ziomek) in Caro, MI. She spent her working years as an Administrative Assistant for the Detroit News. When she was not at work she found the joys in life by spending time with her loving family. Lorraine embraced many aspects of her Polish heritage, especially Polka music and Polish food. She was also very patriotic and loved her country. Some of her favorite pastimes included cooking, listening to music, dancing, and enjoying holiday traditions. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kimberly G. (Bill Modelski) Van Dale, Julie G. Van Dale and Erik G. Van Dale; niece: Holly, nephew: David, and former spouse and father to their three children: Dale J. (Susan) Van Dale. Preceding her in death are her parents: Edward and Josephine; her siblings Carolyn Evans (Waszak) and Dennis Waszak; and her niece Leslie. Visitation is Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 3pm-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd).
