Alleged carjacker nabbed in Oakland County
An Auburn Hills man is facing charges of carjacking and other crimes in connection with an alleged July 17 incident. Zahir Hashim Abdul Aziz, 20, is accused of waving down a female driver in an Auburn Hills parking lot off South Opdyke Road as if he needed help, then threw her out of her vehicle, struggled with her and then stole the car — hitting two others in the lot as he drove off.

Richmond Mayor Tim Rix on July 15 addressed recent concerns from community members regarding trash pickup under Priority Waste. Priority recently purchased GLF Environmental residential waste collection service. Jacob “Frank” Judis, 94, longtime resident of Irons, died peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at The Sanctuary of Bellbrook in Rochester Hills. He was born November 19, 1929 in Irons, the son of Dominic and Kazimera (Elijosius) Judis, who preceded him in death. Frank graduated from the Norman-Dickson Rural Agricultural High School in Brethren with the class of 1950. Frank served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Air Force.

Repairs slated for portion of 21 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township
Road work is set to begin Friday along a portion of 21 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township. Longitudinal joint repair work will be done on 21 Mile Road between Interstate 94 and Jefferson Avenue. The road will remain open to traffic with intermittent flagging operations in place during construction operations, according to the Macomb County Department of Roads.
