Auto supplier Gestamp gets state incentives for new plant in Chesterfield Twp.
An international automotive supplier is getting state support for a project that will bring a new plant and hundreds of jobs to Chesterfield Township. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently announced new incentives for Gestamp, a Spanish company with its North American headquarters founded in Troy. Gestamp North America Inc. is planning expansions at three of its Michigan manufacturing operations in Mason, Lapeer and Chelsea. The new 460,000-square-foot factory on Sierra Drive, near 23 Mile and South Foster roads in Chesterfield Township, will help to further serve new OEM business and expand the company’s presence in the state, the MEDC said.

Nine volunteers from the Richmond Lions Club finished up their cleaning of a Korean War-era North American F-86A aircraft earlier this month at the Selfridge Military Air Museum at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Ray Township voters will weigh in on the need for a new fire station during the Aug. 6 primary, as well vote in contested races for supervisor and trustee. The bond proposal asks voters if Ray Township shall borrow a sum not to exceed $5.5 million, and issue unlimited tax general obligation bonds in one or more series.
