This August, a 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament will be taking over the Ballard Elks Lodge on Shilshole Ave near Golden Gardens Park.

The Shilshole Bay Showcase will be happening August 14 and 15 at the Ballard Elks Lodge. The basketball tournament will be presented by DYSports, an organization that fosters youth athletes in Seattle.

DYSports owner John Verduin is a third generation Ballard resident and says the youth tournament has been in the works for a long time.

“I have been trying to find a location for a youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament within Ballard since I founded
DYSports,” says Verduin. “I think having a community event for youth within Ballard along our great
waterfront will be very appealing, and teaming with the Elks, who has been in our community for over 100
years, makes it even more special.”

The tournament is open to girls and boys from third to 12th grade (2021-2022 school year) and each team is guaranteed to play at least three games. Divisions will be established by age groups and boys/girls, and teams can register online. The cost is $125 per team.

Ballard Elks Exalted Ruler Cindy Olsby says the Elks is “excited to have an event that gets our local kids out competing here in Ballard.” The Elks club has had similar events in the past, having hosted the annual Hoop Shoot Program in previous years.

Several community sponsors have stepped in to support the tournament, and more sponsorship opportunities are available. If you’d like your company to become a sponsor, connect with Verduin at jverduin@dysportsllc.com.
