WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) – Connecting brands with fans is their jamb! You guessed it, the Bayou Jamb Sports Awards is back, and KTVE’s Jesse Davis received a nomination for Sports Media Person of the Year.

Will Campbell, a Monroe, Louisiana native and Louisiana State University offensive tackle, said, “You’re probably familiar with there’s no place like home, and Monroe, Louisiana will always be my home.”

Campbell harbored aspirations of donning an LSU jersey, reminiscing about wearing a #7 LSU jersey as a child. Now, through commitment, excellence, and faith, his dream has come full circle.

“My dream was to go to LSU,” said Campbell. “My next step is to be a future NFL draft pick. Everyone in here has a number, your number can be as impactful to others as No. 7 was to me.”

Now, the moment of truth arrives as the audience awaits the outcome for the Sports Media Person of the Year Award.

Michael Smith, serving as the event’s emcee, said, “These folks are the MVP’s, making high school sports and coverage shine brighter than ever before. These are our finalists for the Bayou Jamb Sports Media Person of the Year Award… Aaron Dietrich, KNOE.”

Rest assured, KTVE’s aiming for that award next year, or perhaps it’s time to embark on a new venture. However, that’s a conversation for another time. Meanwhile, KTVE’s assistant sports director couldn’t contain his smile, despite some less-than-impressed observers.

The Bayou Jamb also provided a moment for reflection on the young lives lost.

“We are honored to have Tarver’s parents with us tonight as well,” said Smith. “Tarver’s courageous spirit and athleticism will forever be remembered. Bayou Jamb stands as a platform to honor and uplift athletes just like him. In his honor, his family has established the Tarver Braddock Foundation. It’s ensuring his legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come. Let’s never forget the legacy and the profound impact he has had on all of us, as we carry his spirit farther in everything we do.”
