Bullpups experience season of firsts

MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) – Carroll Jr. High School has recently seen a series of exciting “firsts.” Marvin Williams has been named interim head football coach for the Top Dogs, while Charles Hunter is stepping into the role of head coach for the Top Pups. After serving as the defensive coordinator at the high school for the past three years, Hunter is now leading the Bullpups. A Monroe native, he is dedicated to boosting pride in Bulldog country and bringing renewed discipline and intensity to the team. This comes on the heels of their first scrimmage yesterday, marking a new chapter for the program.

“My thing is to bring discipline, intensity, and bring the pride back to Bulldog country,” said Hunter. “That’s the most important thing that I’m trying to bring back to Carroll Jr High. We have a game August 20th and we scrimmaging Neville Jr High, so the thing is I’m just trying to get the jitters out the kids and let them go through the hard part in practice and when we get to the game, we just go out there and have fun and play. We have some returning guys coming in. We have a receiver named Reaper. We have a star quarterback coming back, Chad Allen. We have a couple little transfers that came in as well. Lewis Carter, Aiden Cain… we have a lot of new additions to this Carroll Jr High team.”

As Hunter mentioned, quarterback Chad Allen will be returning to the team. Allen is hopeful that the team will stay undefeated and show improvement.

{I want to have} an undefeated season and {do} better than I did last year,” said Allen.

Hunter also emphasized the importance of managing game pacing. Mastering this skill will help the team overcome nerves and set the stage for a successful future.
