Monroe woman arrested; accused of stealing over $11K from elderly family member

MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On July 7, 2024, an elderly victim contacted deputies of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office after she observed a large amount of Cash App transactions that she did not authorize. According to court documents, the name on the account was identified as the victim’s family member, 32-year-old Alberta L. Williams.

Officials were provided with the victim’s banking statements from October 2023 to July 2024 and noticed that 90 transactions totaling $11,186 were made to the Cash App account under the name of Alberta Williams. After officials obtained a search warrant for the Cash App account, they confirmed that Williams allegedly received the victim’s funds.

According to authorities, they obtained an arrest warrant for Williams and she was arrested on August 15, 2024. Williams was charged with Exploitation of the Infirmed.
