EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — West Side Christian School has water damage in the gym. They believe that there was a leak in the seam that got into the wall. The water then flowed from the wall to underneath the floor. It would go unnoticed until the floor became weak in multiple areas. This is when they realized the issue. KTVE/KARD spoke with athletic director Randall Miller regarding the current state of the gym.

Right now, we are kind of in repair mode. We had some water get underneath the floor and do a little damage there. And so, we had folks come in and look at it. We had to strip the floor for the summer and let that moisture evaporate. Now they are in the mode of stripping, repainting, and refinishing the floor to have it ready to go.

Volleyball season is set to kick off very soon. West Side Christian is set to host Taylor High School on Tuesday, August 20th. The gym should be good for the game according to Miller.

We will be ready to go. Our first game is Tuesday at home against Taylor High school. We will be ready to go for that game. We are going to keep everybody off of it through this weekend to make sure it cures and is ready. Then we will practice on Monday and will be ready to go Tuesday.

Miller is thankful for the community and the support they have received. The booster club was big in raising money for the repairs and coming up with a plan. Coach Shelby Jones has been great at making sure the team still practiced daily and did not miss a beat.
