WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — According to officials, the sale hearing for Stewardship Health and the Debtors’ Hospitals in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Massachusetts has been delayed for a fifth time and adjourned to September 4, 2024, at 10 AM.

Last month, Steward Health Care announced that American Healthcare Systems South LLC planned to purchase Glenwood. Steward is Glenwood’s parent company.

According to the Ouachita Citizens, the court documents show Medical Properties Trust agreed to release the Glenwood Regional Medical Center from a 2022 lease to allow AHS South to purchase the hospital, pending court approval. Glenwood is one of the hospitals and medical offices owned by the Medical Properties Trust, a real estate investment trust that is leased by Steward across the country.

On July 31, 2024, a court hearing was scheduled to discuss the sale of Glenwood and other hospitals associated with Steward; however, the sale hearing has been rescheduled multiple times. Since then, CMS and the state Department of Health have removed Glenwood from the termination track.
