One man killed, another in critical condition in Lafayette barber shop shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — One man is dead and another in the hospital as the result of a shooting at a Lafayette barber shop this morning, authorities said.

The shooting claimed the life of Johnny Trailer Jr., 48, of Lafayette.

The shooting occurred at about 9 a.m. at a barber shop on Louisiana Avenue between Mudd Avenue and Simcoe Street.

Lafayette Police said a barber working in the shop was killed and a customer was wounded and remains in critical condition. Police said they do not believe the shooting was the result of an altercation.

The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of the families.
