Camden is home to top 30 quarterback Darrell “Juney” Atkins

EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — Darrell “Juney” Atkins is one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Arkansas. Atkins is a senior player for the Camden Fairview Cardinals. The Cardinals opened up the season with a 40-25 win over the Arkadelphia Badgers. They now have shifted their focus and are preparing for their big rivalry game against the EL Dorado Wildcats. KTVE/KARD spoke with Juney about the season and the big game coming up.

It’s good tradition, it’s an exciting game. A good team is going to be a competitive matchup. It’s going to be thrilling. It’s been a good rivalry, great tradition, like I said, and I’m excited to play. It’s going to be a good competition. I’m, I’m ready. I’m excited. We ready.

Atkins has a bright college future but is focused on the current season. He is a 4.0 student, so he excels on the field and in the classroom. This season, he has high hopes and has set a few goals for this year.

I want to get better every week, and I want to have better stats than I did last year, and I want to feel like I left everything out here and I don’t want to leave nothing behind

There is a strong humbleness inside of Atkins. He understands the importance of his teammates and the strong bond that they have. It is because of that bond that he feels very good about this season.

My guys all work hard. We all on the same page and we, we brothers, every last one of us. It isn’t no holes in our roster. I’m confident about that. More than all. We a family. Definitely a family. A brotherhood.
