VIDALIA, La. (KTVE/KARD) — 27-year-old Javontrics Murphy, who has worked for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) since March of 2024, has been arrested and fired for alleged misconduct. Murphy was charged with three counts of Malfeasance in Office, three counts of First-Degree Rape, Obstruction of Justice, and Simple Battery.

On August 30, 2024, Murphy was reported in a criminal complaint to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was accused of misconduct involving a 15-year-old juvenile. The allegations were inappropriate contact between the CPSO Deputy and a juvenile prisoner while in transit to a juvenile facility. As protocol requires, Murphy was placed on administrative leave and the investigation was referred to the Louisiana State Police for review.

After the investigation was completed, on September 5, 2024, Murphy was arrested and booked into the CPSO Detention Center for the charges previously mentioned. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time. Murphy has also been terminated from his position with CPSO.

Sheriff Hedrick stated, “We uphold our core values to the highest degree and any misconduct that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution will be dealt with as such. I am saddened by the details of this case and stand by my commitment to protect the children in Concordia Parish.”
