PARIS (WCMH) – Team USA is having a stellar Paralympics in France, including a great performance from USA track and field athlete, Ezra Frech.

NBC4 first met with Frech in April where he said he wasn’t nervous or had concerns, noting that he already knew what the outcome would be.

“I’m just going to win,” said Frech. “It’s just as simple as that.”

Frech is the definition of “talk the talk and walk the walk” and for good reason. The gold medal that he won in High Jump at the Paralympics was the product of a lot of sacrifice.

“My confidence comes from the preparation, it comes from the work I’m putting in,” said Frech. “I know that when I stand next to these guys on the starting line and we’re about to take jumps together at a high bar, I know I’ve sacrificed more than them and that’s what gives me the confidence to go win.”

More than three months ago, Frech started a countdown on social media of 100 days until he wins gold. Frech was right, except his first gold came on day 99, when he surprised even himself winning the 100 meter dash.

“I think it is pretty funny and ironic that on day 99 out of 100 I win gold in the 100 meter,” said Frech. “Just goes to show you that I was not really expecting to win gold in the 100 meter.”

The two time gold medal winning Paralympian has the hardware to show off to all of the kids he inspires through his Angel City Sports organization that hard work pays off. At just 19 years old, he’s not done winning yet.

“It means a lot because there’s a lot of kids that I’ve been around and that I’ve been mentoring and to be able to give them some form of happiness by my successes is unbelievably gratifying,” said Frech.

With the Paralympics coming to Frech’s hometown of Los Angeles in 2028, he will be one of the prominent faces of Team USA.
