MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — In June of this year, work began on a restoration center for foster and adoptive families in the Monroe area.

Now, the work is nearly complete.

Project 2.5+ at North Monroe Baptist Church provides resources such as clothes, shoes, backpacks and other necessities to foster families. This expansion will allow the church to keep providing these resources, but also comes with new additions.

We will also be able to do more support in regard to the emotional side of things. We’ll have support groups.

    Erin Powell, Project 2.5+ Co-Director

The support groups will prepare families for reunification when it occurs and will help them overall in the adjustment process of fostering.

The building that the foster and adoptive families will be housed in is also the original location of North Monroe Baptist Church.

We’re just so thankful to be able to be in this new building and just have come full circle, really to be in the original North Monroe church. We’re excited to move in and make it feel like home and are ready to just see it come alive

Powell tells us that she hopes to see the facility open its doors by October.
