Ruston, La. (KTVE/KARD) — In this week’s Bulldog Blitz sponsored by Jim Taylor Ford in Ruston the Bulldogs knew there were questions that needed to be answered after their overtime loss to Tulsa, but none were more important than who’s going to lead this offense into the new week?

The Bulldogs played three quarterbacks against Tulsa and came up with less than 200 passing yards with starter Jack Turner benched in the first half of the game in place of Blake Baker before getting injured in the second half. Evan Bullock would then step up to the plate and give the Bulldogs the lead in the fourth quarter but gave away a crucial turnover in overtime that sealed the game for Tulsa.

With conference play on the horizon for the Bulldogs head coach Sonny Cumbie said ” it’s fair to say” the starting job at quarterback is back open, but also wants to see improvement in other position groups to help out whoever lines up under center on Saturday against Florida International.

“Regardless of who plays quarterback, offensively we’ve got to play better, starting on the offensive line, running back and receiver. I felt like that from a tight end standpoint, our guys were very productive. We need to be a little bit more assignment sound at that position also, but regardless of who’s playing quarterback we’ve got to play better collectively, and that will allow that position, which is a very important position, it is, but that’ll allow that position’s job to be a lot easier,” said Cumbie.
