EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — A reserve officer is someone who volunteers their time to help serve their respective communities. On October 1st, the Union County Sheriff’s Office recognized the retirement of two special officers… Cecil Polk and Johnny Brewer. Sheriff Ricky Roberts has something special to say about the reserves.

You know, and I’ve always said that that when, you know, you come out and you face the same people we face, and the bullet doesn’t have a name on it. But yet, we’re getting paid to do that. You guys come out here and give you time away from your family to do it. And I appreciate that. You set a good example for not only me, but you’ve set a good example for these young folks that work here.

Cecil Polk spent 49 years as a reserve member. Polk was one of the founding members of the Union County Sheriff’s reserve, which has been very successful to this day. He was also a long-time member of the Quorum Court as well.

I got seven people listed here that was in the reserve with me and none of them here any longer. So, you know, just the friends you make over the years, and I’ll have to say not just because sheriff is here, But I enjoy working on the Quorum Court with law enforcement.

Johnny Brewer has served twenty-three years as a reserve in the junction city area partnering with the junction city school district. He has been a very dedicated member and leader of the reserves.

It’s been a long time. But it’s they went fast, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Love coming out. My wife was supportive of me. She wanted me to get out of the house I believe, but I did enjoy it. Every bit of it.

    Johnny Brewer

A big congratulations to both Mr. Polk and Mr. Brewer for all they have done. We also wish they a happy time in retirement.
