    Monroe man arrested in connection to Hardly Street shooting

    MONROE, La. ( KTVE/KARD )– On September 21, 2024, at 1:57 AM, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Hardly Street at Winnsboro Road in reference to a shooting. According to authorities, the victim arrived at St Francis Hospital with several gunshot wounds.

    Officers then spoke with the victim who advised he was on Winnsboro Road and turned onto Hadley Street, heading east. According to officers, the victim stated he saw someone he knew and stopped to talk to them. He also said that he had seen 36-year-old Courtney Burton arguing with a female in front of his car.

    According to authorities, he then advised that Burton walked up to his passenger side window and allegedly told him to “move around.” The victim stated that he put his car in reverse and started to back up. According to officers, he advised that Burton was now in front of his vehicle, on the passenger side, and allegedly pulled a gun out.

    Officers then learned that the victim placed his car in drive when Burton allegedly began shooting at him. The victim then stated he was struck several times while still in the car and drove to Highway 165 to St Francis Hospital. According to officers, they found Burton’s 2014 Chevrolet in the area at the time of the shooting.

    Burton was arrested on October 9, 2024, and charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.
