Ruston, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) — Louisiana Tech fans can call off the hounds for now after the Bulldogs’ offense blew the top off Joe Aillett Stadium. It wasn’t so much of a new look offense, but it was a new voice on the headset for redshirt freshman quarterback Evan bullock as he shined with six total touchdowns in the 48-21 dominating victory over the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.

Co-offensive coordinator took over the play calling duties and in his debut as the man calling the shots the Bulldogs totaled 551 yards of offense and 222 yards on the ground. Head coach Sonny Cumbie said after the game he was glad to see the high-powered ability his offense showed on Thursday night after stepping back from his previous play calling responsibilities.

“I just got out of the way and let those guys make plays. It was fun, and it’s always fun when you’re playing like we played. You have conversations with people internally and externally on decisions like this, sometimes your strengths can become weaknesses. I just became really bogged down, you know, from that standpoint, and allowing someone to do that, that’s going to do a better job than I was, and Nathan has, and we’re going to continue to do that. It makes me freed up to have conversations with players and be with them on defense and special teams and it’s a lot of fun to,” said Cumbie. “It was fun and I’m really proud of our staff, and it was a good victory.”
