MERCED, California — Authorities have dismantled a large illegal drug manufacturing operation in Merced County.Last week, the Merced County Sheriff's Enforcement Team and the Merced Police Department's Detective Bureau discovered the illicit business in the 2000 block of Dunn Road. Deputies seized firearms, a large amount of cash, over 20 pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms, 200 pounds of marijuana, and hundreds of bins containing THC-infused edibles, wax, oils, and other THC concentrates, according to a statement from the Merced County Sheriff's Office. The operation was running without any local or state permits and posed a significant threat to the community and surrounding neighbors. "The reason why these products are so dangerous is because they are unregulated and are extremely potent," stated the department. "The last thing we want is for kids to get a hold of these products."As a result of the investigation, two adults were arrested and booked into jail. Authorities hope this serves as a reminder for parents to talk to their children about the dangers of these substances. The Merced County Sheriff's Office urges residents to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
