Tonight’s Supermoon pairs up with a partial lunar eclipse

We have been really spoiled as of late when it comes to the local space weather happenings. Over the last 24 hours, it was the Northern Lights that dazzled our overnight and early morning skies. Up next for tonight? A full Supermoon and a partial lunar eclipse. Here are the details about where, when and how to enjoy these interstellar events!

First and foremost, the full Supermoon is already shining bright. Our sunset was just before 7 PM, so the moon has been on display for a while now. However, the time to experience the best of tonight’s space weather will be between 10:12 PM and 11:15 PM. During that hour and some change, a partial lunar eclipse will take place. This means the moon will move into Earth’s shadow causing part of the moon to go dark.

Visibility will be great for tonight’s space weather happenings. Outside of some high clouds, you’ll want to get away from city lights for the best viewing opportunities.
