Mini weekend cooldown after a feel-good Friday

TGIF friends! We’re beginning the day with clearing skies, a southwest breeze, and cold temperatures in the 30s/40s. As skies continue to clear and those mild breezes kick up, we’ll warmup nicely through lunchtime.

Highs will land in the lower to middle 60s this afternoon with partly cloudy to partly sunny skies. Southwest winds could gust up to 20 mph but at least it’s a warm wind and not yesterday’s chilly, northwest breeze. Late tonight into early Saturday morning, a new cold front will dip across the North Country and Upper Valley. A few showers and downpours will become likely along with a blustery northwest wind; gusts may get as high as 40 mph.

Once the clouds and showers clear Saturday morning, we’ll move on to a mix of sun and clouds Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will manage the upper 40s to middle and upper 50s with a brisk northwest wind making things feel a bit cooler from time to time. Overnight into Sunday morning, winds will relax as calm conditions takeover. Lows will tumble into the 30s/40s.

Sunday afternoon, readings will climb into the upper 40s to middle 50s but there may be some room to wiggle. Forecast models remain unclear about a storm system to our south; does it stay south for Sunday or trek north? As of right now, we have a partly cloudy forecast for Sunday with thickening clouds late in the day and showers entering in by the overnight.
