Man charged after flashing gun in I-89 road rage incident

A St. Albans man allegedly brandished a firearm at a New York woman who was traveling north on I-89 with her family, Vermont State Police said.

Nikolai Makarov, 42, was cited for reckless endangerment after police said he was driving aggressively and tailgating a vehicle driven by Brianna Forbes, 35, of Peru.

According to troopers, Forbes said she was northbound on I-89 near Exit 17 in Colchester when Makarov allegedly pulled a gun and flashed it “in a reckless manner” as he passed Forbes just before 10 a.m. Monday

Police located Makarov in St. Albans. He is scheduled to appear in Chittenden County Court on December 3, 2024.
