New Hampshire troopers close Route 119 to investigate armed subject

An armed subject has been taken into custody in Chesterfield, New Hampshire, following an incident that led state troopers to close a portion of Route 119.

New Hampshire State Police closed the road between Brattleboro and Wantastiquet Mountain roads just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The road has since been reopened.

Police alerted residents in the area that the would be “heightened police presence while the investigation into the incident continues.

The Brattleboro Reformer has reported that the began in Brattleboro, and that police from Vermont and New Hampshire were on the scene near Mount Wantastiquet. The newspaper says witnesses on the scene reported that shots had been fired, but it was unclear who was firing.
