TALLAHASSEE, Florida — The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is ramping up efforts to make roadways safer by addressing speeding and aggressive driving behaviors.

Over the next few weeks, TPD will conduct extensive operations focused on curbing these dangerous driving habits, which can contribute to traffic crashes leading to injury or death. This initiative is part of TPD's ongoing commitment to enhancing the safety of all who travel throughout Tallahassee, from drivers and passengers to pedestrians and cyclists.

Aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding, tailgating, running red lights, and unsafe lane changes put everyone at risk and can lead to tragic consequences. "Our goal is to reduce the number of accidents and improve the overall safety of our roadways," said Chief Lawrence Revell. "By increasing enforcement efforts, we hope to deter dangerous driving behaviors and remind everyone of the importance of patience and responsibility behind the wheel."

During the operations, officers will be positioned at various pre-determined areas with high traffic volume. Enforcements will focus on violations such as speeding, driving under the influence, and seatbelt use. TPD will be joined by the Leon County Sheriff's Office and Florida State University Police Department in these efforts.

This initiative highlights TPD's continued dedication to enhancing community safety and quality of life. TPD reminds you to report aggressive driving by calling the non-emergency line at 850-606-5800. To learn more about TPD, visit Talgov.com/Police or follow @TallyPD on social media.
