TAMPA, Florida — A 29-year-old Tampa man has been indicted for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, according to the United States Attorney's Office.

Brandon Palmore faces up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted. The indictment also states that the United States intends to forfeit a Sig Sauer handgun and assorted ammunition allegedly used in the offense.

According to the indictment, on December 1, 2023, Palmore, who had previous felony convictions including shooting at, within, or into a vehicle, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was found in possession of a Sig Sauer handgun and 10 rounds of ammunition.

An indictment is a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Tampa Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that unites law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence, making neighborhoods safer. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, to strengthen PSN based on core principles such as fostering trust in communities, supporting community-based violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
