    Tampa man charged with vehicular homicide following fatal crash earlier this month

    TAMPA, Florida — A Tampa man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal crash that occurred earlier this month.

    Charles Williams IV, a 22-year-old resident of Tampa, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide for the death of Corey Koeppen, a 52-year-old resident of Tampa, according to a press release from the Tampa Police Department.

    The incident took place at 10:02 a.m. on September 11, 2024, when a silver Infinity sedan and a white Ford Ranger collided on 1st Avenue South at 51st Street South. The crash caused both vehicles to leave the road, and Koeppen, the driver of the Ford Ranger, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene. Williams, the driver of the Infinity, was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

    The eastbound lanes on 1st Avenue South and the northbound and southbound lanes on 51st Street South were closed for more than five hours due to the investigation, according to the press release. The investigation remains open and active.
