Monroe teacher arrested for alleged sexual misconduct with student

Former welder sentenced to 66 months jail after breaking into Tumwater credit union with blowtorch
A man who broke into and burglarized a Tumwater credit union with a blowtorch in October 2022 was sentenced to 66 months in prison in U.S. District Court in Tacoma. The man, Randall Taufete’e, was a trained welder who used an oxyacetylene torch, according to U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney Tessa M. Gorman. Due to the use of a blowtorch, he was charged with arson alongside a charge of attempted larceny. He pled guilty on March 15.
TikTok expands office presence in Bellevue despite looming ban
Despite a nationwide ban looming over the company, TikTok continues to expand its footprint in the U.S. by acquiring new office space in Bellevue. TikTok, owned by the Beijing-based technology company ByteDance, will occupy seven floors at Lincoln Square North Tower, an office building where it already had 132,000 square feet across six floors. The social media company obtained its first set of space at Lincoln Square earlier this year, according to The Puget Sound Business Journal, but this new acquisition will net TikTok an additional 150,000 square feet within the tower.
Police search for suspects in fatal U-District shooting
Police are investigating what led up to a shooting death in Seattle’s University District (U-District) Monday night. Officers were called to Pasadena Place Northeast and Northeast 42nd Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound. After administering aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sea-Tac Airport, others see summer surge in number of travelers
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac Airport) is seeing a summer surge in travel with passengers pouring in and through in June. On Friday, June 14, Sea-Tac Airport was expected to see 179,000 people travel through the gates. $13M to be owed to woman who lost athletic career falling on Seattle sidewalk
$13.1 million will be awarded to an ultramarathon athlete who suffered an injury after falling on a Seattle sidewalk in 2021, a jury ruled. A King County jury found that the City of Seattle and the owners of an apartment building shared responsibility for the accident, according to The Seattle Times.
