‘Tis the season for swimming and bacteria alerts in lakes, rivers
With summer about to start, many people flocking to their favorite swimming holes may also want to read up on bacteria warnings. During the busy Memorial Day weekend and shortly afterward, at least 20 people, most of them children, reported E. coli infections after they swam in Lake Anna, a popular recreational destination in central Virginia. Nine of those people were hospitalized. An additional 10 cases are under investigation.
90 Lynnwood residents — mostly seniors — on verge of homelessness
Residents throughout Western Washington are feeling the sting of rent hikes. In Lynnwood, 90 homeowners are facing a substantial increase in lease payments. The 90 residents, most of whom are seniors, live in the manufactured home community of Royal Wood Estates. The residents own their homes and have no mortgage rates, but still have to pay rent on the land their homes sit on — in other words they own their homes but not the land underneath them.

Customer threats cause Seattle barista to smash customer’s windshield with hammer
A barista in South Seattle used a hammer to bash in a customer’s windshield after he allegedly threatened her and the coffee stand’s customers. Surveillance video, which can be seen on KIRO 7, showed the customer arguing with Emma Lee — the owner and sole employee of the coffee stand Taste of Heaven Espresso. She said the customer crossed the line on Tuesday when he pulled into the drive-thru and demanded a refund over the pricing.
Shooting caused all lanes on I-5 south in Everett to close Wednesday
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating a shooting that occurred late Wednesday morning o on Interstate 5 (I-5) south that closed all of the lanes for drivers. According to a statement sent from WSP Trooper and Public Information Officer Kelsey Harding to KIRO Newsradio Wednesday, the incident happened just north of the 41st Street off-ramp. Harding previously told KIRO Newsradio in an email Wednesday detectives were gathering information and a statement on what happened would be sent out once that information was made available.
Is your friend missing? Dog found on a Washington ferry without its owner
A dog was found without its owner on a ferry in Seattle early Wednesday and Washington State Ferries is attempting to bring the lost animal home. The agency, which is part of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), posted on X late Wednesday morning stating ferry workers found the canine alone at Colman Dock in Seattle. Workers plan on taking care of this dog for the time being, but it will be transferred to animal control soon.
