Burky’s Grill Announces Plans to Reopen After Fire-Induced Hiatus

A longstanding, old-school Myrtle Beach diner that has been closed since December 2023 has announced plans to reopen as soon as possible.

Situated at 4001 N Kings Hwy , Burky’s Grill initially shuttered due to a fire, with owner Wayne Burkart stating that the eatery would reopen within a 3-month period. While that timetable has passed, Burkart told The Sun News that he still plans to reopen Burky’s Grill as soon as he can.

Burkart, who has been operating the restaurant for 40 years, said he hasn’t pinned down an exact reopening date due to previous delays. However, he mentioned that he should have more information later this month.

“We’ve disappointed people too long,” he stated. “I want to get a firm date and stick with it.”

When Burky’s Grill finally does reopen, patrons can expect the same award-winning hamburgers and hot dogs that the beloved diner is known for, as well as its signature fries, chili, baked potatoes, and soft serve.
