MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — After a day of revelry on the city’s beaches on the Fourth of July, Myrtle Beach crews worked through the night to remove mounds of trash left behind by visitors.

Workers’ efforts to clean up the beaches in time for the rest of the holiday weekend didn’t go unnoticed.

“Is it super powers or the Myrtle Beach Beach Crew is really just THAT good? We think both,” the city said in a Facebook post . “Kudos to our #FirstinService Beach Crew who didn’t let one piece of trash stay overnight on the beach after a lot of July 4 celebrating. Not only does this crew’s work make a difference for our residents and visitors daily, but also the sea life we work hard to protect. Thank you, Beach Crew, your hard work every day does not go unnoticed.”

City officials have not said how much trash was left behind, but photos posted on Facebook show many overflowing trash cans with garbage strewn all around them.
