Every year ice cream aficionados celebrate National Ice Cream Day on the third Sunday in July. In 2024 that means this Sunday is the day to honor the frozen treat. If you’re looking to get in on the action, these top-rated local spots on Tripadvisor are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

    Meyer’s Ice Cream Parlor

Meyer’s bright pink and blue awning and blue-checker floors welcome visitors into a vintage-inspired ice cream shop. Since 2004, Meyer’s Ice Cream Parlor has been serving more than 50 hand-scooped ice cream flavors and more than a dozen unique sundaes.

    Melt

Voted best ice cream shop in the Myrtle Beach area by Sun News readers last year and named best shop in South Carolina by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2019, family-owned ice cream parlor Melt offers homemade waffle cones and 60-70 craft ice cream flavors.

    Saltwater Scoops

Saltwater Scoops makes their unique flavors in small batches in the store. Try their most popular ice cream, Carolina Crunch, which features a caramel base with toffee and chocolate pieces, or go dairy-free with an italian ice.

    Kirk’s Ice Cream Parlor

Kirk’s has two Myrtle Beach locations, the original Kirk’s 1890 Ice Cream Parlor and the similarly named Kirk’s Ice Cream Parlor. Both are popular spots decorated by Tiffany-style lamps and classic games. The nostalgic parlors offer 40 flavors of ice cream, frozen bananas, malts, shakes and sundaes.

    Kirk’s 1890 Ice Cream Parlor

The original Kirk’s is just a few miles away from its other location, between Broadway at the Beach and the shore.

The Ole Fashion Ice Cream Parlor

The Ole Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor lives up to its name with it’s classic red and white striped roof and walls. The local spot features nearly 40 ice cream flavors and fun treats like banana splits and brownie sundaes.

    Twisters Soft Serve

If you’re more of a soft serve fan, Twisters is the ice cream destination for you. Reviewers say the shop offers soft serve, sundaes, and blended treats in chocolate, vanilla or swirl ice cream.

    Native Joe’s Scoop and Grind

Part ice cream shop and part coffee shop with a tropical vibe, Native Joe’s serves up acai bowls, specialty drinks, teas, shakes, smoothies, and, of course, coffee and ice cream.

    Kilwins Myrtle Beach

Located at Broadway at the Beach, Kilwins offers unique, original recipe ice cream flavors, shakes and sundaes. If you’re not in the mood for an icy treat, the shop also sells candy and fun flavors of fudge.

    Bruster’s Real Ice Cream

Bruster’s has dozens of ice cream flavors made fresh in the store to put in cups, cones, sundaes, splits, blasts and shakes. If your pup also has a sweet tooth, make their day with one of Bruster’s free sundaes for dogs.

The chain is also celebrating July as National Ice Cream Month with a “sweet stakes” to win free ice cream for a year. You can enter here .
